A father, his 7 year old son and their donkey set off to the market one day.
The father asked his son to ride the donkey, while he pulled them along.

A passerby exclaimed "How unfilial a son!"
In response, the son got off and the father got on the donkey while the son pulled.

After a short distance, another passerby commented "How cruel this father is, making his son do all the hardwork."
Again, they reacted and the son got on the donkey with the father and rode on.

Passing-by a farm, the farmer said in disapproval "How cruel this father and son, to treat their donkey so harshly!"
So the father and son got off the donkey and walked on.

About to reach the market, a lady full of the day's marketing laughed "How stupid of these two! If I had a donkey I would surely ride it!"


Listen to your inner heart,
never doubt yourself,
or your heart will sway,
as did father and son on their way.
